The month of October sees the Guernsey Lily International Film and Video Festival taking place at La Villette Hotel in St Martins. Now in its fifteenth year, this prestigious annual event attracts entries from all over the world from film makers who produce films and videos for love alone. One hundred and twenty-five entries were submitted to this year's competition and the quality and standard of work is extremely high. Film makers and enthusiasts from Europe and the United Kingdom will be gathering at the hotel to see many of the entries screened throughout Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th October.
The final judging was undertaken by a panel which was comprised of:
A film produced by Matt Thomas of Guernsey entitled "The Zombie Enigma" has been judged "Very Highly Commended" and is the winner of the Channel Television Trophy for the "Best Channel Islands" entry. Matt has also been judged "Most Promising Newcomer". His film and many others will be shown during the festival.
The top six Guernsey Lily award-winning films will be screened on Saturday 14th October at 6.00pm; to be followed by the presentation of awards and the Festival Dinner.
If you would like to attend the Festival Dinner please book you place in advance with Mary Rouillard (details below). The cost is £16.00 for a three-course meal.
All programmes over the two days have an admission charge of £3.00. Alternatively, one £10.00 ticket may be purchased for attendance at all the shows. Refreshments will be served during all intervals.
