About us - our aims and plans

CinéGuernsey was started and is run by film lovers for film lovers. We are a member of the British Federation of Film Societies benefiting from their support and expertise.

Our aim is to make the enjoyment of the best of world cinema in a convivial environment a reality here in Guernsey; to foster interest in films which do not reach the commercial cinema in our small community and to widen our appreciation of film both as an art form and as a medium of education and information; and last but not least, to restore the sense of community pleasure in watching and discussing a film as a group.

CinéGuernsey is organised by volunteers and is a non-profit making cultural institution. We are a member of the Association of Guernsey Charities.

We show films monthly in the Frossard Centre Theatre, Candie Gardens with drinks (wine, soft drinks) before and after in the foyer of the Guernsey museum.

Performance times

For the summer months, we will be having only one screening for each film. Doors open at 6.45pm; refreshments will be served before the film which will start at 7.30pm.

Future events

As we grow, our objective is to enrich this programme with other film-related events such as weekend film festivals featuring particular genres, producers or directors.
